REVIEW

The family car is one of the most important and expensive items you’ll own or lease. From activities and playdates to work commutes and road trips, the wear and tear on your tires will be significant. When it comes to handling and traction, you want them to feel safe and confident driving in various weather conditions. And the price point is always a factor—budgets are real and auto maintenance can sneak up on you.

My husband and I have two kids, a son, nine, and a daughter, six, who have several activities between them. We live in an urban area, so the majority of the test was city driving, with several highway commutes. When testing the Sailun Terramax HLT all-season tire, we considered safety, performance, longevity and cost. While there was no snow during our test period, we did experience heavy to light rain and fog. We drove on different types of road terrain, for short and long distances. Read on to learn more about this affordable all-season tire performed on our test.

QUALITY 9/10

  • They performed well during different types of weather and at quick stops and turns.
  • When stopping short or taking a corner quickly in wet and dry weather, the tires performed well. Overall, the tires deliver driving confidence and felt like a safe choice.

EASE OF USE 9/10

  • The ride was quiet and felt smooth on different types of roads including bumpy city streets and long stretches of paved highway.
  • Our overall experience with the tires was a positive one and we would use them again.

VALUE 9/10

  • These are an affordable option at around $140 to $180 per tire, making them a solid choice for a family vehicle. You want tires that feel safe, will perform well and last long. The Sailun Terramax HLT delivers on the first two and we feel confident they would hold up to their promise on the third.
  • They come with a limited tread life protection warranty of 80,000 km/50,000 miles or five years, whatever comes first, and if there are any defects found within the first year, your tires will be replaced free of charge. (Be sure to read the warranty in full.)

INNOVATION 8/10

  • The tires performed well in the rain and fog, which can be attributed to the extra-wide grooves and tread blocks. The traction and handling were solid.
  • They were noticeably quiet, especially on the highway at longer distances. The tread pattern reduced sound as promised.
  • The traction was noticeably grippy and exceeded my expectations.
